I am a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) and this means I abide by the Ethical Framework to keep you safe from harm, a thorough confidentiality protocol and keep myself up to date in counselling practice. There are many benefits to you if you choose to work with a counsellor who is registered with the BACP.

I have a BSc (Hons) in counselling and have a specialist interest in working with chronic illness and ill-health, cancer counselling, palliative care, and grief and bereavement counselling. As well as being a counsellor I have nearly 30 years of experience as a nurse in the NHS.

After nearly 30 years as a Nurse in the NHS, I trained as an Integrative Counsellor. Much of my nursing career was working in Oncology (Cancer) and Palliative Care. Among my career in nursing, I have worked as a community Macmillan Nurse, a Macmillan Breast Care Nurse Specialist, and for Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice.
As a counsellor I have experience working with young people aged 16-25 and their parents for a young person counselling charity in Hampshire, and currently work for a Cancer Charity as a self-employed counsellor working with clients who have cancer or are affected by cancer. This includes bereavement and grief counselling.
I am passionate at helping people improve their mental health and encouraging clients to grow and overcome their issues. I have a specialist interest in chronic illness, cancer and bereavement/grief counselling and working as both a nurse and a counsellor helps me have a better understanding of certain medical conditions and how illness can affect so many aspects of your life. The communication skills in nursing enable me to be truly empathetic.

I am an Integrative therapist which means that I work with different counselling theories including person-centered theory and psychodynamic theory. This means that I am client led - I am beside you on your counselling journey and individualise therapy to suit you and do not “advise” you. This is important because only you know how you feel. Sometimes it can be helpful to explore the past to be able to move forward.

I provide a safe space to support and work with you to explore your issues to help you gain a better understanding of yourself to reflect, grow and initiate the changes you are hoping to make. Our relationship is therefore built on trust, empathy and is completely non-judgmental. I work with you at your pace, and will listen and hear you to help you gain the changes and answers you are searching for.
I work with a range of issues including depression, anxiety, ill-health, grief and bereavement, identity issues, anger management, work related issues, relationship issues, trauma, stress, self-esteem and health related issues.
